BBC Radio Comes To iTunes

After many years of glaring absence, eleven BBC Radio stations have finally appeared within the Radio section of Apple’s iTunes allowing easy access to these streaming BBC Radio stations, wherever in the world you may be.

Although we have been able to listen to BBC Radio station via the BBC website or other media players, it is good to see the Beeb finally joining the iTunes community.

This is good news for those with an Apple TV, for now you can stream BBC radio through the connected speakers.

The stations are available in either 48kbps or the higher quality 128kbps stream which has noticeably better audio with no buffering issues.

Here’s a handy list of where the various BBC stations can be found within the different iTunes radio feeds.

Well it did, for a short while. But now none of them seem to work. Is this the same for you?

      Hi John,

Yes, I’ve noticed the iTunes links to the BBC Radio stations are now only working intermittently. Some days they connect without a problem, other times like today, none of the links work. It is disappointing and I hope they (I assume the BBC is responsible for providing the stream) rectify the problem soon.

      Cheers,
      Jane.

        Hi John & Jane,

I have exactly the same problem. All of the BBC stations are listed on the itunes radio but they do not stream. I’ve contacted the BBC and they suggested emptying my browser cache, cookies and history. This seemed to work temporarily, two days to be exact.
Inexplicably now it doesn’t work at all. Furthermore, as suggested by the BBC, I have un and re-installed the Adobe flash player – this hasn’t worked either.
Additionally I’ve also tried changing my default browser to no avail.
it’s amazing as all the channels stream from the BBC iplayer portal.
There must be a problem with how itunes caches the stream.

    Hi John and Anthony.

Seems the BBC iTunes streams are working once again, at least they are today!
Hoping it stays that way 🙂

They’re working fine for me here today. Listening to BBC Radio4 at the moment.
Hope they work for you again soon.

Nice one, was looking for how to open the original streams, just didn’t know where to look in iTunes I guess.
Thats one browser window out of the way, saves me accidently closing it too!

Hi All, it appears i’ve lost bbc radio channels on itunes radio. They still come up in the respective genres ‘alternative’ for radio 6 for eg, but when you click on the station it doesn’t play. Has something changed?
